About Us

Thanks for showing interest in us. We created Dharwad.Com in July 98 and it actually became available on web in Sept 98. We did not want to reveal our identity but visitors in numerous mails expressed their desire to know "who are maintaining the site?". So here we are writing about ourselves..

In short ,

Arun Hampiholi  ,
Milind Hanchinmani,
Shrishail Pattanshetti and
Veena Hampiholi

maintain Dharwad.COM

If you have time and Enthu to know how Dharwad.com became a reality... Here are more details.

HOW DID DHARWAD.COM START?

On a lazy July 98 Sunday morning, I(Arun)  was talking to Milind, on phone. As the conversation (bvUv@Š) went through all aspects of life, I  asked Millya, what if we create dharwad.com? ( I was expecting , (Jv«.v–WŠ `vyZvy³Lv HvY LŠzxZv†í `vyZvy³Lv #UŠzxF ) And his response was , "Wow! that's a great idea lets do it. Do you know how to do it?"   Within next 3 or 4 days , I registered the site We had no idea how will the site look? What will it contain ? what is target audience etc.

Information Collection:

Photos:  Millya called Dharwad and Ananth ( or Anthya) helped click the first round of pictures and developed them .  The photos were sent to Bangalore, there another set of friends, fought with scanner and finally stayed late into night for many days to get the pictures scanned and then sent them over internet.... ( You may now appreciate why the resolution on some of pictures is low...).
Information: Mean while Shrishail (Pattya) got information about Dharwad written up from his mother. The pages come through post and Millya, Pattya and myself typed them. My father got a Dharwad Gazetteer from University and then posted few relevant pages from huge book. Unfortunately of 100 pages just 10 reached me, the package was open and all pages were missing, result of pathetic mail handling by Indian and US postal services. Anyway, my father had another trip to University, bought one more book and sent few pages by DHL, they reached safely. Also scratched my memory and started typing , the result is Dharwad.com, a site for for all Dharwadis.
Design:   So far it was easy. Now came the designing, font selection, colour scheme for the web. So many hours were spent on this. So many designs looked good for few days and then looked ugly afterwards. But somehow  I finalized on some design and thus came dharwad.com on web. The initial response of readers was encouraging and suggested change of design. So we did change the design.
Helping Hands:    All my designs and HTMLs were reviewed by Milind ,Shrishail and my wife - Veena.  And if you have signed the guestbook, you will receive a mail from admn_dharwad@yahoo.com   and that comes to you either from Shrishail or Milind. And you must have read "News", and the page  is uploaded everyday by Veena  Also, the "NimmaPuta" is her idea and she did those pages.( you now know how I can spend so much time on Dharwad.com without ruining marriage, involve wife !!! ;-)).  And all the encouraging mails/guest book entries and Message forum entries keep us going.

Where Will the site Go from here?

After the initial euphoria dies down, we want to make the site a meeting place for Dharwad Internet users and information center about Dharwad. And try to provide some more news everyday, till Sanyukta Karntaka* becomes available Online. Its sad that such a popular news paper is not on line.

Thanks Again..........
