| Shri Balkrishna Shrikhande. Deputy Headmaster of Basel-Mission Boys School. He was instrumental in founding the Maharashtra Mandal. A keen cricketer, at some point the main entrance to the Dharwad cricket ground was named after him (it was called Shrikhande Prawesh Dwara if I am right). He was also a wonderful director and actor and staged and directed many productions. He instilled a sense of discipline and love and respect into his students and there are many who till this day fondly remember him and credit him with turning their lives around and making them worthwhile students. Many will remember Shrikhande Sir and his contribution to Dharwar's student life. He was close friends with Da. Ra Bendre, G.A Kulkarni and may other prominent litterateurs. Often times, contribution of teachers to society and to us is not given proper appreciation , it deserves. There are no awards at school , college level for teachers. It would be nice way of saying "Thank You , Sir", if we can reward the teachers of every school , college in dharwad. This is an appeal to all of you, who think that we should encourage our teachers and appreciate their had work and dedication, to come forward and institute award(s) for them.
