Part VI

In the previous article we read about how the victory against Razaakars in Kukunur was achieved and this proved to be the turning point in the fight for liberation of Hyderabad.

Taking notice of the success of the youths from Mundargi camp, Sardar Patel sent the union minister Mr.Gadgil to Mundargi. Mr.Gadgil came with instructions from Sardar patel to Mr.Annadanayya Puranik and the youths of Mundargi camp.

The instructions were on following lines:

1. The youths were to escalate the fight against Razaakars and Nizam rule by opening more such camps in North Karnataka.
2. The acts of misrule and voilence by Razaakars and Nizam police had to reach the people outside Hyderabad province and to do so, Mr.Puranik had to write about the same, under the pen name of " Allama" to leading newspapers of India. (Sardar Patel had asked the editors of these newspapers to give priority and highlight the news feed from Mr.Puranik.)
3. The Nizam police and Razaakars had a large collection of arms and ammunitions stored in strategic locations of Hyderabad province. The youths under leadership of Mr.Puranik had to identify and destroy or take away these arms and ammunition and thereby weaken the military might of the Nizam. The same had to be done without any loss of civilian life.
4. News handouts had to be circulated in every village to educate the common man about the misrule of Nizam, the fight against the misrule and the coming of Indian army to liberate Hyderabad.
5. A intelligence network had to be put in place to collect information about the movement of Razaakars and Nizam police and this would be of help when the Indian army entered Hyderabad province.
6. At a opportune time, an government of people had to be declared in those areas where the youths were successful in defeating the Razaakars and the Nizam Police.
Finally, Mr.Puranik had to regularly inform Sardar Patel about the developments in the fight for liberation of Hyderabad.

After return of Mr.Gadgil, the youth camps were started in Thambralli, Hosur, Gadag and other places and more youths joined the fight for liberation of Hyderabad.

The writings from Mr.Puranik which were published in National press, created a lot of awareness in the nation about the dark deeds of Razakaars and Nizam and therewas widespread admiration for the youths of Mundargi camp.

Written handouts were prepared everyday by Mr.Puranik, Mr.Devendra Kumar Hakari and Mr.Panchakshari and circulated in villages and a intelligence network was setup by Mr.Puranik using the common people like petty traders, cowherds, milkmen, teachers and farmers. This network began to collect every information about the Razaakars and the Nizam police and sent it to Mr.Puranik.

While Sardar Patel and the youths were actively engaged in the fight for liberation of Hyderabad, the local congress leaders were all set to sabotage this fight!!

In the coming articles we will read about the treachery by these congress leaders and how it nearly destroyed the fight for liberation of Hyderabad.
