Hi to all Dharwadians or Dharwadites,
My friend Shashidhar Kunkur accidentally came across this site. But I guess this was one of those accidents where you don't get hurt or feel hurt.
Anyway It was great to visit this site and read all the information about its history, the Rotary Club etc.
Let me introduce myself.
Although I was not born in DWR (Acronym for Dharwad, nor do I stay there, this town has a special place in my heart and evokes immense nostalgia whenever its name is mentioned.
This is because my roots are in Dharwad, my Father grandfather, grandmother ( paternal as well as maternal)and many of my relatives hail from Dharwad.
My relatives stay at Malamaddi. WE have our ancestral house at Madihal which is being reconstructed now.
My favourite places in Dharwad are the Railway station ( which is similar to the Malgudi Railway station of Malgudi Days), Yammikeri albeit without the 'Yammis' ,Vijaya Talkies ( because it belongs to our relatives- Mudholkars)and last but not the least Line Bazar because of Babusingh Thakur's Pedhas.
The best thing about Dharwad is its weather (dry heat in summer and chilly and windy cold in winter)and its peaceful and serene atmosphere.
I might go on like this for another half an hour on Dharwad ( kya kare control hi nahin hota)

Really a superb job!!! It was really a nostolgic moment to see "City that educated Me" on web!!
Though i hail from 'Ramdurg' a taluka place in Belgaum..most of my education was from Dharwad and Hubli..
After completing PUC from JSS College in the yr 1991, I joined BVB Engg College , Hubli (1991-95 Mechanical Batch)
After that i joined Kousali Institute of Management Studies,KUD..(1996-98 Batch)to do MBA.Currently i am working in Pune (which many times reminds me the climate of Dharwad..!)in the area of Project Management.
The tour yr web, reminded me many things like..Nagu's mess at JSS,Big tree infront of mechanical dept at BVB where we used to freek out!!..and Venki's canteen at KUD...the list never ends..

It is highly commendable. May I add a little positive suggestion to add information regarding Hubli City as it is inseperable part and parcel of Dharwad and most important City in North Karnataka.

Dharwad is my native town. My father Shri. Shrinivas N. Singit is from Madihal, Dharwad. He left Dharwad in search of job & headed towards Mumbai. I was longing waiting to come across such a site.

I spent my childhood in Dharwad. We used to live in a house in veternary hospital. Opposite to it used to be Municipalaty building built in pure brilliat white marble. It has stuck in mind like Taj Mahal of Agra.

Congratulations on the anniversary of your site. I have been a frequent visitor to this site, I have seen it grow from a simple collection of stories by a small group of friends to an amazingly professional production. I am also amazed by the number of people that have been brought together and are able to share their experiences in life.
Then I realize that people are people everywhere. The pictures, the stories,and the history are very informative. The accolades to others for their accomplishments near and far are something to behold. Several comments exemplify this. A good example is the comment about a fellow visiting his grandparents for the summer in Dharwad, and I thought of the impact this whole collection would have on that fellow's own grandchildren. Correction in my yesterdays comment, after visiting the site once again in detail, I saw the names of many eminent poets, actors and artists. However the history section needs more information,for instance Ranni Channamma deffited and Killed Thakery during war with Britisher's and his remains are still there in Kittur Ranni Channamma Park, Dharwad. Also include photographs of such historic events, and I appreciate if the quality of photos be improved.

HI guys I was very proud and excited to go through our dharwad's site. I was evenmore excited when I saw our compounds name (MANDI COMPOUND) in Pankaj's comments. Keep it up guys you all are doing a great thing. IT IS GOOD TO KNOW THAT WE DHARWADIANS HAVE PROSPERED IN EVERY PART OF THE WORLD.
Assuming that this site is still under construction, I suggest that this site should also have information about university, and the history should have information about the various poets(ex. BENDRE, ISHWARRAN) and actors(GIRISH KARNAD, LEENA CHANDAVERKAR)and many more personalities DHARWAD has produced.
MY BACKGROUND:
After getting a solid foundation education from St.Joseph's High school, and KCD Dharwad, for 18 years, I did BE from Gogte Institute of Technology, Belgaum. Then later I went for higher studies to Australia and completed Masters in Engineering from University of Wollongong, Sydney, Australia, which further led me towards immigration to Canada. Currently I am working in Information Technology on BAAN platform for Origin Technology, Canada.
Through this site I was able to find some of my long lost friends and hope to find many more.

What a surprise !!
I had just made an assumption, think of a name and probably it is already there on the web and sure enough my birth place has already made it to the web.
I was born in the Dharwad Municipal hospital and spent my summer vacation ( the best experiences of my childhood !!)
in the company of my grandparents (Late Mr. SB PATIL) who lived in the GIRIS bunglow.
I still remember those summers spent in the company of friends visiting Dharwad restaurant, laxmi cinema and giving company to my grand ma to the Hanumanta Temple.
I am sure things must have changed a lot since then, and hopefully for the best...
