I would like www.sitar.co.uk to be treated as an educational resource rather than a commercial promotion. Please find below the internet locations I have created. All offer hindustani classical cd's for sale with free downloadable sample tracks. I hope you will have time to listen to some of them and would much appreciate it if you could add them to your database. Mp3.com pays a small playback royalty to the artist for each download.

Please forward the information to any other departments with an interest in this admittedly specialist subject.

I am available for concert, recording session and teaching work, and hold Prayag Sangit Samiti Prabhakar (B.MUS) from Allahabad.

Hello, I have grown up in Dharwad. I have very fond memories of school days (KEB, Malamaddi). I have left DWR since 1977, after BE from BVB college Hubli.

I sincerely wish we had TVs, Comps and most of all Internet in those days!!!!

meeting you again. I was in govt. practicing school(1954-60) Basel mission high school(1960-64) and then KCD. Lot of friends, I wish to share my nostaligic memories later. I worry about dharwad with its problems. sweet memories of watching cricket matches with kadli gida, kavali hannu, mavin tota, subhash road beautiful structurees of kcd and railawy station, 15th august and 26th Jan at collector compound. film shows on special ramzan habbad saluwagi, a special accent of dharwad urdu.cricket and hockey finals between BMHS and St. joseph so lovely so ecstaic but sometime i have sad feeling the way hubli is hijacking dharwad's glory. Now I am in film/video world. Appi Umarani (acting)my self (Sound) and Kulakarni(direction) are three student of film institute pune from DWD of course Girish karnad was there as a director. Leena Chandawarkar was in hindi films Vikram( Moin Makandar) acting student was from Hubli and Arunaraje was from rane bennur. so much to say but later thanks

The first time we came to Dharwad was Feb. 1964. The water was running for 24 hours at Saraswatpur and electricity was also available round the clock. At the whole Dharwar, so it was called at that time, was a beautiful and clean place. The air was clean. There were no autorickshaws. To go around we had to take the cuderi - taxi
As we returned 1963, the Kissan bottles, the Amul cheese, the shampoos and all the other things were still standing on the same place in the shelfs in the Tikare shop on the Subash Road. A lot of other things, however, have changed. The water and the electricity supply is irregularly. The air in the city burns in the lungs and pigs were in plenty on the roads. But still then something is driving us back to Dharwad every year, leaving clean and well organized Switzerland beind for several month. Please do not ask why. We do not know. Can it be that we are madly in love with Dharwad?

Does anyone know the homepage of SDM college of engg.? i've searched but come up empty. Also is there an Alumni Association? I graduated in 1986, painted the town red...and never saw it again. We had a great time in Dharwad, and have a lot of fond memories... especially playing cricket...our batch mates had unusual names....QUARTER (NK), TAPRI, FE, etc.,.....

also, for the record there will never be group like the class of '86 at SDMC...I'm sure everyone breathed a sigh of relief when the class graduated.(although many tried very hard not to graduate)..except for UDAY's...

Very good site maarayare! Contents are quite interesting. Bangalore-Mysore based kannada websites are usually good but 'sappe' in contents. Your site embraces the Dharwadish 'gadasu' quality that is a feast to kannada-lovers like me. The problem with South Karnataka is not with overwhleming outside influence, but the lack of restivity that is needed to preserve originality. You too have Marathi influence but that does not in anyway make you look like you have lost any identity of your own. South kannadigas have a lot to learn from North Kannadigas. I have often heard my Marathi friends saying that there is a lot of Kannada influence in their environment. This is a tribute to Kannadaness. It is a new idea here in South Karnataka because we have never been able to identify ourselves amongst any other language. We acknowledge other languages, sometimes become slaves of it and start doubting our own credibility and credentials.

I hope that a totally kannada city like Dharwad or Hubli a rich hub of activities on a global scale like what Bangalore has become in the past decade. If only our politicians are as proactive, we could have had another Pune.

I find graet to receive responses to my articles on may experiences in America.
I spent most memorable years of my life in Dharwad during my college education between 1952 to 1060. I was a close disciple of Mahakavi Bendre nad Samanvayacharya V.K.Gokak. My nostalgic memories of Dharwar are evergreen and ever fresh. I simply get excited whenever someone utters the name 'Dharwad'.

I didnt intend to post this in Guestbook, but since i'm sure most of people come here, whenever they visit the site, and also seeing various comments in this GB, i was compelled to write this here:

Site administrators have in the past been telling us to use the discussion board more, but somehow it has not caught on for various reasons. Impression is Discussion Board is only meant for serious issues. It need not be.

i suggest, all fellow Dharwadians use the discussion board more extensively by writing jokes, ancedotes, comments, your experiences in the places you are currently residing, folk songs, movie songs, movie reviews, instant poems/instant essays, anything, (however mediocre(saada) it may sound to you), that you feel you want to share with other Dharwadians. You are always free to send your write up to Admin if you think it is of higher quality, to be published in 'Nimma Puta'. All of us can be amature writers while we are here, and can express our creativity. So enjoy and have fun, make your visits enriching everytime.

I hope administrators will not have any objection to this. What do you say Arun?
